Division of Power and Electrical Engineering

Within the scope of its activities, the Division of Power and Electrical Engineering ensures and carries out revision activities on designated and reserved technical equipment in accordance with Decree No. 205/2010 Coll. and Decree No. 508/2009 Coll. All activities are carried out both for internal customers within ŽSR and for external customers outside ŽSR.

Department of Power and Electrical Engineering Revision Activities

The department of power and electrical engineering revision activities carries out and provides the revisions of electrical equipment throughout the ŽSR network by employees at 13 workplaces of the department in Čierna nad Tisou, Trebišov, Košice, Snina, Prešov, Poprad, Lučenec, Zvolen, Vrútky, Považská Bystrica, Trenčianska Teplá, Bratislava and Nové Zámky.
The designated activities, their scope and conditions are performed on the basis of the Authorization issued by the Transport Authority, pursuant to § 17 of the Act of the National Council of the Slovak Republic No. 513/2009 Coll. on railways for ŽSR, The Railway Research and Development Institute Žilina.
Employees of the Railway Research and Development Institute Žilina, Division of Power and Electrical Engineering perform designated activities in accordance with the Certificates of Professional Competence issued by the Transport Authority Bratislava pursuant to § 18 of the Act of the National Council of the Slovak Republic No. 513/2009 Coll. on railways, which defines the scope of their activities.

The department provides and performs the following activities:

Revisions of the designated technical electrical equipment in accordance with Decree No. 205/2010 Coll. in the scope of: E1           Railway electrical distribution equipment and railway electric stations without voltage limitation 

• E2           Railway electrical networks and railway electrical distribution systems up to and including 1 000 V AC and 1 500 V DC
• E3           Traction substations and traction switching stations 
• E4           Railway contact line system 
• E4a         Tramway and trolley contact line systems, subway third rail 
• E5           Electrical equipment supplied from contact line system
• E6           Electrical equipment of railway vehicles, including railway wagons 
• E6a         Electrical equipment of railway vehicles – track machinery 
• E8           Electrical equipment of cableways 
• E9           Stand-by electric power supply sources for operating of the railway 
• E10         Testing laboratories of railway electric equipment 
• E11         Equipment for protection against the effects of atmospheric and static electricity 
• E12         Equipment for protection against the negative effects of  return traction currents 
• E13         Electrical equipment in areas with explosion hazards, explosive gaseous atmospheres (external effect of BE3) including protection against the effects of atmospheric and static electricity.

Revisions of the designated technical electrical equipment in accordance with Decree No. 508/2009 Coll. in the scope of:

E1      technical electrical equipment without voltage limitation, including lightning conductors for classes of objects: 

A – Objects without explosion hazard
B – Objects with explosion hazard
