Management Board

The Management Board is the supreme body of the railways. It has five members – four members of them are experts from the transport sector, finance, banking, economics and law, one is elected for representatives of the railway employees. Board members are appointed and dismissed by the Minister of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic, one of them is appointed and dismissed by the proposal based on the election of the employees.

The Chairman of the ŽSR Management Board is PhDr. Juraj Lovásik, MPH. 

Members of the ŽSR Management Board (MB) are:

• Ing. Filip Macháček
• Ing. Juraj Hrehorčák
• Mgr. František Zaparanik

Office of the Management Board of ŽSR provides administrative and technical operations. The Head of the MB Office of ŽSR is the Secretary of the Management Board. General Inspection of ŽSR MB performs inspection and control in organizational units of ŽSR in accordance with requirements and conclusions of the ŽSR MB and provides tasks associated with improving of the management system and compliance with legislative provisions incorporated into sectoral regulations and standards, monitors implementation of decisions of ŽSR MB and gives suggestions for their implementation. Inspector General of the ŽSR Management Board is entrusted with the management of the General Inspection of ŽSR MB.

Director General

The Director General manages the activities of ŽSR and is responsible for its performance and the results to the Management Board. The Director General is a statutory body of ŽSR. He represents the company externally and is acting on its behalf in all matters with except of the matters that are in exclusive competence of the Management Board or the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic.

The Director General is represented by four deputies responsible for specific departments of ŽSR. The General Director is appointed and dismissed by the Minister of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic.

The General Director manages the Department of Director General and has three deputies who manage the activity in other departments and represent the General Director to a defined extent.
